Giant Steps Chardonnay from Yarra Valley reveals aromas of ripe yellow peach, Meyer lemon, hazelnut and a touch of wet slate. It's dry and medium-bodied with creamy texture balanced by crisp acidity that gives the wine remarkable elegance and freshness through a long, mineral-driven finish. Serve it chilled alongside grilled white fish with lemon butter where the wine's bright acidity and subtle richness complement the delicate flavors, or pair it with roast chicken where the wine's textural depth and citrus notes balance the savory meat and crispy skin. Head of Winemaking and Viticulture Melanie Chester, who won the Wolf Blass Prize for Excellence in Winemaking upon graduation from the University of Adelaide and was named the first female Chair of Judges at the prestigious Melbourne Royal Wine Awards in 2022, crafts this wine from an equal split of upper and lower Yarra Valley fruit sourced from both estate vineyards and select growers, then ferments it with reduced malolactic fermentation to preserve natural acidity before aging in French oak. Founded in 1997 when Western Australian entrepreneur Phil Sexton arrived in the Yarra Valley seeking the ideal terroir for cool-climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Giant Steps was named the 2025 Winery of the Year in the Halliday Wine Companion, with Campbell Mattinson noting that the combination of energy and expertise Melanie Chester brought since joining in November 2021 has been "frankly breathtaking." Enjoy this elegant Chardonnay through 2029.

Chardonnay food pairings: grilled white fish, pork brochette, roast chicken.
