A full-bodied, rich, round Old World Burgundian Chardonnay that was aged in French oak barrels, of which 40% was new. Aromas of toasty oak, toasted almond, Asian pear. The vines were planted in 1981 at a density of 10,000 feet/ha with a north-east exposure in clay and limestone soils. The wine underwent 100% malolactic fermentation. Pair with roast chicken or turkey.

Food pairings: roast chicken, buttered lobster rolls, roast duck.

Reviews and Ratings

Roche De Bellene Les Charrons 2009 is a dry, fruit-driven Chardonnay from the Meursault in the Côte-d'Or department in Burgundy. Lovely, weighty mouthfeel on the mid-palate with light tropical fruit flavours and ripe red apples, matched with a zesty acidity. Drink now and for the next five years. This plot of land was used years ago to grow trees for the purpose of making carts (charrette in French), hence the vineyard is named "Les Charrons". - Community Wine Reviews
