Donatella Cinelli Colombini Orcia Cenerentola from Tuscany is an elegant, medium-bodied red offering aromas of dried wildflower, wild currant, and hints of warm earth. It's dry with fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity. Serve it slightly below room temperature with braised lamb shanks as the wine's silky texture and concentrated fruit will enhance the tender meat and rich sauce beautifully, or pair it with aged Parmigiano-Reggiano where the wine's refined structure and lengthy finish will complement the cheese's crystalline, nutty complexity perfectly. Donatella Cinelli Colombini, a pioneering force in Italian winemaking who founded Casato Prime Donne (Italy's first all-female winery), crafts this wine at her Fattoria del Colle estate from 65% Sangiovese blended with 35% Foglia Tonda, a nearly extinct grape variety abandoned over a century ago that she painstakingly revived. Named after Cinderella, the wine symbolizes the young Orcia DOC (born in 2000 on Valentine's Day) striving to shine between its richer "stepsisters" Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, and the wine ages separately in tonneaux before blending and resting in concrete egg-shaped vats. Enjoy from 2026 or cellar for 5-8 years.

Food pairings: braised lamb shanks, aged Parmigiano-Reggiano, wild boar ragu.
