The first time I tasted a wine made of Romorantin grape, it was at a blind tasting at Les trois petits bouchons, a great restaurant unfortunately closed that specialized in offering vins natures. At that time, I was working at RueFrontenac and we had regular tasting for journalistic purposes only (!) conducted by sommelier and ITHQ teacher Pascal Patron. At the end of the tasting, the owners served us this beautiful yellow liquid in a carafe and asked us to guess what it was. Nobody guessed. But everybody was amazed. You don't get to drink Romorantin often, not that it is very expensive, but it is pretty rare because it is only grown in the little AOC of Cour-Cheverny.
Romo gives you a very aromatic wine and the Domaine des huards is no exception. The nose offers you a nice bouquet of white flowers and white peaches. Very pleasant indeed.
You get what you smell in the mouth with lots of fruit and a superb acidity. You can drink that on its own or pair it with a cheese plate. It would be particularly good with a chèvre chaud salad.

Very sweet on the nose: Apricot jam, stewed peaches, wildflower honey, cantaloupe, orange blossom, clove, and a delicate mint note. The palate is surprisingly dry, with tart green apple, lemon, grapefruit, fresh (not over-ripe) stone fruit, white pepper, and clove. Medium-bodied, with a very good length, spicy finish.

Heady aromas of baked pear and burgamot carry through with an apple crispness and a persistent luscious mouth feel.

Floral aromas jump out of the glass. Quite mineral with citrus and melon. Medium spicy finish. Not sure what you pair this one with.
