Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Light and delicate, with floral aromas and flavours of white grapefruit, lime and salinity. Mouthwatering acidity makes it a sure hit with shellfish. Enjoyed it with giant grilled shrimp over avocado.
Tasted March 2018
Stephen Andrews reviewed this wine as follows:

Tasted Feb. 17th 2018. Colour light straw. Legs light. Aromas and flavours of, lemon-lime, yellow apple, saline. Taste dry, light body, mouthwatering, low alcohol. Finish lemon-lime. Ok I like this wine for value because I use it to steam mussels. Get a heavy pot. Add a chopped shallot to grape seed oil and butter in the pot cook for 3 minutes.
Clean mussels, add to the pot, pour in 1cup wine. Cover and steam 5 minutes. Serve with crusty bread and sweet potatoe fries or Yukon gold roast potatoes with herb de Provence. Drink the remainder of the wine with your meal.
Château De La Bretesche is a Muscadet Sèvre Et Maine sur lie from the Loir wine region. The 2016 is great value, zesty with white grapefruit and flinty minerality on the palate from lies ageing. Produced by Jérémie Huchet, vigneron, this winery is located on the hills overlooking the River Sevre where the earliest known vineyards date back to 1387. Pair with oysters. The shield on the label honours Louis Jausseaume, who was a bodyguard for Louis XIV and was awarded the property on which this winery now stands for his bravery. - Community Wine Reviews
