Vibrant and energetic and full-bodied with enticing dark cherry notes, spice and a mouth-watering zing. Terrific for dishes with some acidity. Good value for the price.

Lesley Quinn - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

Chianti Classico in general are great wines to explore. This Riserva has notes of cherries fresh off the tree, with a hint of tobacco coming in to spice things up. This 2009 Riserva could benefit from another year or 2 in the bottle as it is still settling down. I tried the 2008 and it was much more balanced. Chianti demands food to be consumed with it, and is fantastic with spicy smoky Italian Chorizo.
Winner of a Gold Medal at the 2012 InterVin International Awards competition in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Medium garnet colour with enticing notions of red cherry, hickory smoke, rose petals, violets and incense. Smooth, succulent and sultry with vibrant red fruit coming together with waves of exotic smoky incense, and showing just a hint of leathery character that should really shine with another 2-3 years in bottle. Drinking well. Medium-bodied & Fruity. Source: Vintages Wine Panel, Jan. 2013
An important and austere wine, with great structure and personality. Produced from an accurate selection of hand-picked grapes from the best vineyard of the estate. It displays deep ruby red colour trending to garnet, with ripe wild berry bouquet showing hints of jammy spice with prevalent pepper and sweet tobacco.
