Zucca Mountain Vineyards, known as “Zucca” by friends and locals, was started by Carol and Gary Zucca in the late 1980s. Having enjoyed wine for years, and after leaving their careers in teaching, Carol and Gary decided that their new life would either involve sailing around the world or starting a winery.

For the Zuccas and their loyal customers, opening and running a boutique winery was clearly a winning choice.Carol’s chemistry and biology background made for a great foundation as a winemaker. Combined with Gary’s business management expertise, Zucca Mountain Vineyards has established itself as an award-winning producer of premium wines in California’s Sierra Foothills.

The same joie de vivre that is apparent in a couple who would scrap it all to sail around the world is present in their wine and their business. They have had the same employees since the doors opened, have a loyal wine club, and make beautiful artisan wines with the utmost care. We invite you to join us in the experience and adventure.

Rex Pickett, Sideways

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
