Founded on an old farm in Southern Vermont, Whaleback Vineyard and winery offers a diverse selection of Vermont wines that include roses, red wines and even apple wine. Located in Poultney, VT, between the scenic Green Mountains and the water of Lake St. Catherine, Whaleback Vineyard cultivates over 4,000 vines of wine grapes across 7 acres of land.

We offer wine tastings at Whaleback Vineyard Wednesday to Sunday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm if you would like to come see the winery and taste our wines. All of our wines are crafted from the highest quality grapes that we grow locally in our Vermont vineyard. The varieties of grapes that we cultivate at in our vineyard include St. Croix, Marquette, and Frontenac Gris.

One challenge that we face as a Vermont winery is the colder climate. Fortunately, we are able to cultivate cold-resistant varieties of wine grapes developed by the University of Minnesota that are able to survive very low temperatures (even below freezing) and thus extend the growing season for our grapes significantly. Combined with other cold weather techniques, these grapes have allowed us to bring local wine to our part of Southern Vermont. We look forward to sharing it with you!
