My name is Bill Tristant. I was born in the Southwest of France on a small winery in the Basque countryside. From the time I was old enough to walk, I watched the wine making process, looking on with delight as the crushers stomped the grapes then joining with the other children to complete their work. This and many other happy experiences set the stage for my wanting to own my own vineyard some day.

At an early age I had the opportunity to immigrate to this country. Now, after many years, my dream has come true.... The Napa Valley was well known for its quality wines. With soils rich in volcanic residue and many other exceptional properties, it was an ideal place to grow grapes. In the spring of 1977, I explored this unspoiled region seeking the perfect location for my vineyard. In 2005, I decided to retain a portion of my selected fruit and create my own label. My dear friend and neighbor across the lane, Benessere Vineyard, crushed and fermented my very special wine. How this excited me, remembering the child within!

How Our Wine Is Different - Our Enology Practices

Our goal is to obtain the maximum extractions and colors and produce a very well balanced wine.

In the early morning of harvest time, we hand select the grapes and remove the smallest parts of leaves, twigs and dried and pink berries. The berries and juice are cold soaked for a minimum of five days, after which pump overs are performed three to four times a day.

The wine is aged 18 months in French Oak barrels. The final blend consists of 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petite Verdot.

Our wine is a deep color with balanced proportions of tannins, acidity and fruit and a long finish. It drinks exceptionally well now and will only get better with age. The quantity is very limited – only 390 cases.

Our goal is to make the best wine possible. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
