Founded in 2001, Trade River Winery is a family-owned venture located on beautiful Trade Lake in northwestern Wisconsin. Our Wandering Epicurean team has combined their passion for fine wine and traveling to new frontiers to discover wines produced by enthusiastic winemakers. This is the first introduction into the United States for many of these wines, and we are proud to represent them. All our wines are stored at the optimal temperature in our state-of-the-art geo-thermal warehouses.
About the Winery
Trade River Winery is just an hour and a half drive from the Twin Cities along the St. Croix national Scenic River way. Come to our forest glen to relax and experience a pastoral interlude on our elegant patios, which are surrounded by landscaped gardens and a waterfall. Unwind and taste wines at a slow and genteel place. Feel free to bring a picnic lunch or phone ahead to order a Wine Country Lunch.
You will find a warm and friendly atmosphere in our tasting room, where novices to experts alike can explore these undiscovered wines. Don’t forget to visit our gift shop where you will find a fun and interesting array of gifts for the epicurean at heart. You can also shop online or request a gift catalogue. Be sure to check our events page for upcoming events this season and winemaker visits. Our 2009 season begins Memorial weekend May 23/24. We’re open on the weekends during the summer for wine tastings in the gift shop. (Winters Saturday only. Check back for times.)
Our patios also are available for rental for private parties. Our staff is delighted to assist you with weddings, receptions, corporate functions, fund-raisers, or other events. Our outdoor facilities can accommodate up to 300 people. It is our pleasure to answer any inquiries about our winery and other attractions or accommodations in the area.

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Rex Pickett, Sideways

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Eric Asimov, The New York Times

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
