At Sunshine Mountain Vineyard, the excellence of our wines stems from our unique approach to winemaking. We handcraft each vintage using the finest equipment and our patient methodology, placing an emphasis on quality and flavor throughout the process. And then there’s our secret ingredient: family. In creating and operating the Vineyard, we have sought to emulate the venerable European tradition of interweaving family life and wine-making, all on the same versatile plot of land. Our philosophy is that wine expertly and painstakingly crafted with contributions from loved ones is simply more enjoyable to make – and drink. Add to the mix our collection of superb grapes –specially selected to complement the Vineyard’s specific climate and soil composition– and you’ll taste the superior results in each and every bottle we produce.Claire and Ed Kruger, the owners and proprietors of Sunshine Mountain Vineyard, are passionate about two things: wine and family (not necessarily in that order). Over the years, various business trips took them to various regions of Italy, where they experienced firsthand the traditional practice of an extended family growing their own food on a sustainable, self-sufficient estate. Of course, wine was a big part of things, and the spectacle of the yearly grape harvest was an event that the Krugers found especially magnetic and endearing. The varietals grown at Sunshine Mountain Vineyard are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Syrah. Collectively, they are the varietals that typically comprise Bourdeaux wines, and we’ve found that these particular grapes are well-suited to the micro-climate of the Vineyard – and our palates!

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
