As the third decade of her life begins, Danielle Cyrot brings a broad scope of international winemaking expertise that extends well beyond her age. And as the descendant of French vignerons whose history goes back for centuries, she is also renewing an enological tradition that had been dormant for three generations.Danielle now turns her full attention to St. Clement. With a range of vineyards to work with, she can utilize her creativity to its fullest in crafting rich, unique wines. For Danielle, it’s a family tradition. The philosophical approach to winemaking at St Clement is all about the land of Napa Valley. Much has been written about the idyllic nature and diversity of this 50-mile long valley. It is this diversity that forms the foundation for our approach to winemaking.

As an artist holds many colors on the palette to create subtle hues, we hold a collection of vineyards from the north in Calistoga to the south in Carneros and from the alluvial benches of the valley floor atRutherford to the cloud clinging heights of Mt Veeder.
There are over 50 defined soil types in the Napa Valley, most of which are rocky. Our collection of small growers is spread about this soil diversity from north to south and valley floor to towering mountainside. From the gravel of the alluvial benches to the fiery red stones of the volcanics, these rocks exert their influence in a significant manner.

Vines do not like wet feet and the rock enhances the soil drainage. It also adds minerals to the mix, which in turn, is absorbed by the grapes, adding subtle flavor complexities to the wines. The rock content also affects local climate. Rock warms faster than soil in the day and cools faster at night, helping the vine wake in the morning and aiding the night time cooling so vital to the preservation of acid content, the lifeblood of fine wine.
We take the fruit from this collection of small, independent growers to balance, blend and build our wines into totalities that mirror the complexity and beauty of the Napa valley itself.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
