Welcome to the home page for Salinia Wine Company! We are a family micro-winery located in the Russian River Valley in Northern California. We specialize in the cold climate wine growing of Pinot noir, Chardonnay and Syrah. With a typical annual production of less than 300 cases (3,600 bottles) our wine is only available through our mailing list and a few select restaurants. Please take a look around and then email us with any questions or comments. We would love to hear from you!
Salinia is a family business that is owned and operated by Kevin and Jennifer Kelley. We were born and raised in San Jose, California at the foot of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Growing up, Kevin loved to read and focused his attention on local history. This interest led him to read Charles Sullivan’s Book “Like Modern Edens”. Hooked by the stories of early winemaking in California and more specifically in his own neighborhood, Kevin knew he had to be part of this noble yet some how humble tradition. After knowing each other since the 3rd grade and falling in love during high school, we were engaged to be married in the vineyards of Sonoma in 1996. It was then that we set the course for our future together and took the steps that would allow us to pursue our love of winemaking.

Kevin received a Viticulture & Enology Degree from Davis and upon graduation, he and Jennifer moved to Nuits Saint Georges in Burgundy, France. Understanding the science, it was now time to learn the philosophy and tradition behind classical winemaking. In Burgundy he worked with Jean-Nicolas Meo at Domaine Meo-Camuzet and lived with Christian Gouges of Domaine Henri-Gouges. He was very fortunate to learn the winemaking craft from both of these great winemakers. Kevin quickly recognized the value of learning from multiple winemakers. With this in mind, he returned to California and joined a fledgling Custom Crush, where he was quickly promoted to facility winemaker. It was here that he worked shoulder to shoulder with several of the best Pinot noir and Chardonnay winemakers that California had to offer.

In 2003 we assimilated our years of experience to launch Salinia Wine Company. We started making small quantities of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from hand selected, choice vineyards on the Sonoma Coast. 2006 proved to be a banner year for us as we had our first child Kian and moved in to our own winery. Years after beginning our journey we are blessed to have a happy family and be following our dreams doing what we love.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
