Roane Vineyards is located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains along the Ohio River Valley. The idea for the winery began with current owners Paul and Anna-Neale Taylor when, in 1995 while clearing a part of their farm, they discovered a tangle of wild grapes growing along the hillside. And so, in 1996 Paul and Anna-Neale planted their first test grapes and began planting their main vineyard in 1997.

Today they cultivate eight varieties of mostly French-American Hybrid grapes while planting more vines every year including a section of Cabernet Franc grapes planted in Spring 2003. From the varieties of grapes grown at Roane Vineyards, the winery consistently makes fourteen different wines ranging from a dry red to a sweet dessert wine. The winery also makes seasonal fruit wines like Melomel, Plum, Raspberry and their award winning Elderberry.

Roane Vineyards became an official West Virginia winery in April 2000 when they received their Federal Bonded Winery Permit and state license. Roane Vineyards wine can be found for purchase in Tamarack, Capital Market in Charleston and many fine restaurants and retail outlets throughtout West Virginia. Roane Vineyards frequents many wine festivals and tastings in the spring and summer. Paul and Anna-Neale always welcome visitors to the winery for a tour and tasting

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
