The vineyards of Riverbend Cellars are uniquely situated in a 280° bend of the Eel River, scenically surrounded by Humboldt Redwoods State Park. The valley's hot days, tempered by significantly cooler nights, provides a perfect climate for the cultivation of premium wine grapes.

From this exceptional fruit, our winemaker crafts wines in the European style which emphasize a "sense of place", including true varietal character, not just fruitiness, and complex flavors including leather, spices and smoke.

Thomas Meagher recognized that Myers Flat, situated as it is, on a small, sun-drenched alluvial plane, nestled in a valley running down to Humboldt Bay, would draw cool air into the vineyards each night. These conditions are just about perfect for the cultivation of premium wine grapes. Hot days build sugars; cool nights protect acid levels.

He has complete control over harvest and does not order the pickers into the field until the ripeness of the grapes is balanced". This means the acid. pH and sugars are at their optimum relationship to each other.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
