Our journey to becoming award winning vintners began about as spontaneous as our lives together. Thirty years ago an impromptu road trip proposal and subsequent Las Vegas wedding led to our four kids, two grandkids and countless adventures.

In the fall of 2003, friend and experienced vintner Will Gerrior (formerly of Vashon Winery) asked us over a glass a cabernet, "You don't make wine?! You have to make wine! It's easy and I'll help you do it!" Since winemaking had always been a dream of ours, we decided to embark on this new journey by buying half a ton of Cab Franc grapes from the Paul Portteus Vineyard. Our airplane hangar served as the birthplace of Palouse Winery with only two barrels tucked snuggly under the wings of George's 1946 Piper Cub.

With expert guidance from Will and vintner friend Bill Owen, we steadily grew our winery to where in 2005 Palouse expanded into the present day location on Vashon Island's north end where we currently produce 1,000 cases of handcrafted wine a year.

Today, those wine enthusiasts lucky enough to discover this jewel of a pocket winery are greeted by the wagging tails of our Yorkies, Scoobie and Skylar, and of course samplings of our award winning wines!

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
