Nicholas Cole Cellars is an artisan winery of the highly-acclaimed Walla Walla Valley appellation, devoted to red wines of exceptional character and quality. Each wine is carefully crafted and blended for the ultimate balance of concentration, complexity and grace while remaining true to terroir.

Founded on the belief that great wines are made ‘one vine at a time’, Nicholas Cole Cellars sources grapes from the finest vineyard sites throughout the State. Owner & winemaker Mike Neuffer works in tandem with winegrowers dedicated to low yields, site-specific fruit expression and sustainable practices. Only the optimum fruit from prime vineyard blocks compose our final blends.

Located in one of the oldest and most charming cities in Washington State, Nicholas Cole Cellars was founded by Mike Neuffer, taking its name from his children, Nicholas and Michele Cole with a 376 case production of 2001 Claret. A Bordeaux style blend, it was composed of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon and 48% Cabernet Franc. The inaugural vintage was crushed and fermented at the renowned Andrew Will Winery of Vashon Island, later blended, aged and bottled in the newly completed Nicholas Cole Cellars in Walla Walla.

The release of the 2001 Claret quickly put Nicholas Cole Cellars at the forefront of notable wineries in the Walla Walla Valley. Production was ramped up after the success of the initial blend and the wine’s name was changed to Camille in honor of Mike’s grandmother. Camille has varied across each vintage, an ever-evolving mélange, based on what the vineyards had to offer. Some years Cabernet Sauvignon was the star, others it was the Merlot, but the stellar marriage of traditional Bordeaux varietals remains constant.

The year 2005 marked the first full harvest of Neuffer Estate Vineyard. This particular vintage, an immediate favorite, allowed the creation of the Dauphiné and Michele blends to the Nicholas Cole Cellars lineup. Finally, Nicholas Cole was able to showcase the full expression of the extraordinary Walla Walla fruit grown in the Neuffer Estate Vineyard. Today, the goal is to produce solid, powerfully built yet elegantly expressive, hand-crafted wines, using only nonpareil grapes in Washington State, while paying homage to family members wo so greatly influenced Mike’s passion for fine wine.
