In remembering my first visit to the Napa valley, I recall the ride with my brother Doug and David in my Uncle Harry's Renault Dauphine, making the trip up from Palo Alto. My parents were with the friends in the behind. It was the spring of 1955. At that time , little could my parents have imagined the importance that these trips would play in their lives and those of their sons. My parents soon fell in love with the beauty of the eastern hillsides of the valley and by the mid 1960's they had assembled the property that today we call Long Family Ranch.

The Montagna team is comprised of General Manager, Rob Long, Winemaker, Nile Zachlerle, Proprietor, Bob Long and Vineyard consultant Bob Gallagher. Our philosophy regarding making great wine is very simple: You can have all the high tech winemaking equipment money can buy but, if it doesn't happen in the vineyard...it doesn't happen.
