Milat Vineyards is a family-owned and operated winery, situated on 20 acres of estate vineyard just south of St. Helena in the Napa Valley. Our production is limited to approximately 3500 cases of estate-grown, produced, and bottled wine.

In 1949, Richard and Izetta Milat purchased the land for a summer home to escape the San Francisco city life. Soon thereafter, the Milats decided to make St. Helena their permanent home in order to raise their four young sons in rural Napa Valley. In the 1970’s, two of the sons, Mike and Bob, took over the vineyard operations, maintaining the vines themselves and selling the grapes to the Napa Valley Cooperative Winery and to other local wineries.

In the 80’s with the growth of wine consumption and many new wineries in the Valley, the plan began to transition from grape growers to vintners. In 1986, the brothers and their wives, Carolyn and Joyce, made the first vintage of Milat Vineyards wine and opened to the public. Located on Highway 29, customers come in to taste our wine and share our family history. In 2007, after more than twenty years of experience, we still manage all aspects of winemaking, from soil to bottle, with a consistency and quality that is reflected in all our wines.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
