“If you could do anything you wanted, what would it be?” Maria Largaespada posed the question to her husband, Matthew Sorensen. “Grow grapes and make fine wine!” was his reply. And so began a long journey to create what is now named LongSword Vineyard.

Matthew Sorensen worked in both the food and pharmaceutical industries for over 20 years. His extensive experience includes analytical chemistry, fermentation science, and bioprocess development. He is formally educated in the fields of botany, biochemistry and finance (AKA professional student). Matthew’s passion for wine originated in his college days when he began annual pilgrimages to Napa and Sonoma valleys. His passions include Yoshinkan Aikido, orchid cacti, and Maria.

Together, they have worked to produce wines that are easy to enjoy, food friendly, unique and distinctive. They are eager to share their wines and hospitality with every visitor.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
