Nestled in the sky-lined hills of Ramona California, Kohill Winery is just 40 minutes north of San Diego. A family dream built from the ground up, Kohill Winery overlooks Ramona’s majestic Valley of the Sun and is surrounded by three acres of vineyard. From our vines to your table, it is our deepest joy to create a magnificent collection of boutique vintages. At less than 1,000 cases per year, every bottle receives personal attention to ensure you are getting the highest quality wine. Our estate wines include Cabernet Sauvignon, Barbera, Refosco, Sauvignon Blanc, and Semillon plus other locally grown varietals. Our story began in March of 2000 with the purchase of 8 acres about 25 miles northeast of San Diego in the small rural community of Ramona. With passion and enthusiasm, we envisioned creating a destination winery and vineyard as a memorable gathering place for family and friends.

In 2000, Ramona had a handful of vineyards and one bonded winery where our first harvest experience was obtained. It took almost two years to complete the house, and just a week before Christmas in 2001, we moved into our new home and began planning for the vineyard. Clearing an area for the first section of vineyard began in the fall of 2002 with our planting of 450 Cabernet Sauvignon vines on St. Patrick’s Day in March 2003.

In December 2008, after becoming a bonded winery, clearing for and planting another 1,000 vines of Sauvignon Blanc, Barbera, Refosco and Semillon, building a boutique winery, and investing in a significant amount of stainless steel and oak barrels, we released our first two vintages, 50 cases of a 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon/Sangiovese blend and 15 cases of our 2007 estate Sauvignon Blanc. We have since released our 2007 Merlot and our 2008 estate Sauvignon Blanc, click the link to our Wine Shop for more information.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
