In 1984 we left the Netherlands with two backpacks, ready to discover the world, eventually arriving as immigrants in New Zealand. We established a number of businesses in various industries. During
those years we followed the development of the NZ wine industry and dreamt of one day being part of this.
Wine has been a passion since our uni days. After studying viticulture in 1999, we purchased a 23ha block in 2012, in the Alexandra Basin, Central Otago. Alexandra is a harsh environment, with extremes in the day and night temperatures, creating beautiful flavours. Our grapes are grown following NZ Sustainable Winegrowing principles.
In between the vines we noticed several pairs of
spur winged plovers, and decided they were to be involved in the naming of our wine.

The Pinot Gris was harvested on the 30th April 2014. We created an easy drinking wine with fruit flavours of apricots, peach and pineapple. Nicely chilled this wine will suit a large range of food styles, but is very well enjoyed on its own.

We harvested the Gewurztraminer on the 17th of April 2014. Providing lovely fruit flavours and floral aromas, this balanced, off dry wine can be enjoyed on its own, but would also suit a range of food styles including Asian dishes.

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Rex Pickett, Sideways

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable: A Tipsy Search

  Best Books of the Year

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
