Nestled at the foot of Wintergreen Resort and atop the rolling hills of the Rockfish Valley, sits Hill Top Berry Farm & Winery. Originally opened as a pick-your-own blackberry farm, the family owned and operated business expanded into a winery in the late 1990's.

Founders, Marlyn and Sue Allen, were at the forefront of what is now a budding industry by being one of the first wineries in Virginia to offer specialty wines. The operation has grown to include not only a new line of historical wines, but a new generation of owners. Three sisters, Kimberly Allen Pugh, Crystal Allen Brennan, and Marlo Gayle Allen, are now the proud owners of this ever-growing family operation. Offering both indoor and outdoor meeting facilities, Hill Top promises to never outgrow its family roots and southern hospitality.

While many others have followed suit, Hill Top Berry Farm and Winery produces a unique experience for fruit lovers and historians alike. More than a dozen "True to the Fruit" Virginia wines and historical honey meads adorn the shelves of this cozy, family winery.

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Rex Pickett, Sideways

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
