Greata Ranch was established in 1895 by British immigrant George Greata. Although the property was later managed by and then sold to the Long family, locals have long known the site as "Greata Ranch".

The Senator had visited Greata with his father when he was a young boy, he well remembered the magnificent peaches that he had sampled. This knowledge served him well when the property came up for sale in 1994. There was very little weather data on the property, but remembering the wonderful fruit that had been grown successfully gave him the insight that grapes would do well.

The first vines were planted in 1996 and the first harvest in the fall of 1998. Since that time Greata Ranch Vineyards has produced high quality grapes that have been showcased in many CedarCreek wines. In the spring of 2003 the first of the Greata Ranch wines were released under their own label and sold from the Greata location.

You may choose to join in on one of two regularly scheduled tours of the vineyard at Greata, where we offer some of the fascinating history of the property and plans for its future.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
