Findleton Estate and Vineyard is genuinely a small family owned and operated winery and vineyard. We manage a boutique winery, vineyard, and tasting room in El Dorado County, California and produce less than 2,000 cases of wine a year. We have a unique vineyard site which is nestled at 3,000 feet elevation on the Sierra Nevada Foothills, with cool air flow from the mountains, and well drained, chalky soils. This site, previously referred to as "Pneumonia Gulch" by the early settlers, has proven to be an ideal microclimate for our Pinot noir.

We believe that wine is a product of the vineyard site, climate, vintage, and winegrowing/winemaking. Aside from our estate Pinot noir vineyard, we purchase only local fruit from viticulturists who share our philosophy and maintain a high level of attention to detail. Our focus is on producing small lots of wines of the highest quality possible, which reflect both the vineyard and the individuals behind the winemaking
After over thirty successful years as a commercial contractor, Tom Findleton, owner and Winemaker, made the leap to pursue his true passion and make the transition from a lifelong home-winemaker, to focus solely on winemaking. Tom's wife and co-owner, Pamela Findleton, is a well-known local artist and (being a lover of wine) was delighted to create the original artwork for the labels. Jeanetta Findleton lends her graphic design skills and works with Pamela to design the labels. Kevin Findleton, having worked multiple vintages overseas in New Zealand, in addition to Findleton Estate, assists with the winemaking and vineyard management. We are also fortunate to have Larry Findleton offer his expertise and join us as our Director of Marketing. Tommy Findleton handcrafted and designed our tasting bar in our new secondary tasting room on Main Street, Placerville, Gallery and Tasting Room. Angela Findleton helps pour wine in the tasting room. Tom and Pam’s six grandchildren look forward each year to help harvest the grapes from our estate vineyard. Carrie Findleton, UC Davis V&E Graduate, is our Consulting Winemaker.

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Rex Pickett, Sideways

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
