DelMonaco Winery and Vineyards is a small, family - run business, in the heart of middle Tennessee. David DelMonaco was born in Chicago and moved to Cookeville over 40 years ago to attend Tennessee Tech University. Barbara DelMonaco moved here from Kentucky with her children over 25 years ago. They met and inspired each other to do great things with their talents and passions.

We started making wine in the basement of our home in 2002. It was just a fun hobby for us, something to do on the weekends. We joined the amateur wine makers' organization of TN, TVOS, and enjoyed the company of other wine enthusiasts. We planted four varieties of vines at our home to make homemade wine. These grapes still go into our Whistle Stop Red and Vivance. Then in 06' we found a beautiful piece of land, the current 52 acres where DelMonaco Winery now sits. We thought we would plant more vines on this acreage and sell to the commercial wineries. About the time we finished planting the first 12 acres of vines, we thought that Putnam County did not have a winery so we might as well build one. This was a two year process with design and the legal issues that go along with putting in a winery. We wanted to have something for the community to be proud of and a place to call theirs. Along with the winery, we added the Bella Rooms. These rooms have been used for many fun occasions. Weddings along with baby showers, Christmas parties, fund raisers and more have graced our halls. In the spring of 2011 we planted an additional six acres of vines. This vineyard sits in the middle of the subdivision we put in, Vineyard Estates. The subdivision circles the vineyard and the homes face the vineyard for a beautiful front yard! Today we have thirteen different wines to share.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
