Chaberton Estate Winery is located on 55 acres amongst the rolling hills of south Langley, British Columbia just 45 minutes from Vancouver, B.C. We are the largest and oldest winery in the Fraser Valley. Our 100% BC wines have won numerous awards in wine competitions held throughout Canada, the United States and Europe.

History

In 1975, founders Claude and Inge Violet, having sold their winery and vineyard in France decided to start afresh in the New World. After visiting California, Ontario and the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, Claude and Inge purchased the land where the present site of Chaberton and the Bacchus Bistro are located. The micro climate parcel of land is perfect for growing 'cool climate' whites, Bacchus, Siegerrebe, Reichensteiner, Madeleine Angevine and Madeleine Sylvaner.

In its first year, (Domaine de) Chaberton produced 3.000 cases. Today, the winery, which is the oldest winery in the Fraser Valley, produces over 45,000 cases a year and is 5th largest Estate Winery in BC. Chaberton wines and the cuisine of the ZAGAT rated Bacchus Bistro have become internationally recognized.

After running the vineyard for over 25 years, the Violets sold Domaine de Chaberton to Anthony Cheng and Eugene Kwan. Anthony is a business executive, residing in Hong Kong. He has had business interests in Vancouver for 20 years. Anthony is a connoisseur of fine wines and is responsible for the finishing of our wines. Eugene, a retired Vancouver lawyer and a business executive, was born in Shanghai; grew up in Vancouver and, after graduating from UBC, has practiced law for over 40 years.

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Rex Pickett, Sideways

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
