Beak & Skiff is an apple farm located near Lafayette, N.Y. It's name comes from the two families that started the company in 1911, the Beak family and the Skiff family. The business has evolved over the years from a wholesale apple business to a diversified apple farm. Today, Beak & Skiff has it's original wholesale apple business that grows, harvests, stores, packs and sells apples both domestically and overseas. It also sells fresh cider to the wholesale market. In addition to the wholesale market, Beak & Skiff has a strong retail position. We operate a very successful PYO Orchard, Farm Market and Mail/Phone/Web Order business during the fall season. We have a new Farm Winery/Cidery that is growing in sales each year. A distillery is a part of our immediate future plan. Also, we have planted a small orchard covered by a high tunnel style green house to evaluate the potential of growing organic apples in our climate. We are committed to change in a business that has reached mature status. We believe our future success will depend upon the development of businesses outside the traditional box.

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Rex Pickett, Sideways

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable: A Tipsy Search

  Best Books of the Year

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
