Vondeling Petit Blanc Chenin Blanc is a medium-light white made from old-vine Chenin Blanc planted on south-facing granite slopes in 1986, fermented entirely in stainless steel with no oak influence, then matured on its fine lees to build a creamy, rounded texture. On the nose it's fresh and fragrant, with white nectarine, dried acacia blossom, tangerine zest, and a cool saline edge from the afternoon Atlantic breezes that roll in off Table Bay every day. On the palate it's bright and focused, with lemon curd, green apple, crushed granite minerality, and a long, clean finish with lively, food-friendly acidity. Winemaker Matthew Copeland, who experiments with skin ferments and minimal-intervention techniques across the Vondeling portfolio, keeps the Petit Blanc deliberately fresh and unadorned. The farm was granted to Swedish immigrant Oloff Bergh in 1704 and takes its name from the Afrikaans word for "foundling," and today the estate is a certified WWF Conservation Champion actively protecting the endemic fynbos species unique to the Paardeberg mountain. Serve it well chilled now through 2029. Pour it with fish tacos with a mango and lime salsa, where the wine's citrus notes tie the dish together, or try it with smoked salmon Benedict where its bright acidity cuts through the hollandaise cleanly.

Chenin Blanc food pairings: fish tacos, grilled chicken, smoked salmon Benedict.
