This shows a lovely balance between fresh orange peel and citrus and riper notes of treacle tart, tar, red licorice, tobacco and spices. Full body, a plush and velvety ball of tannins and a driven line of acidity, which carries this suave Chianti Classico through to a long, delightful finish. Drink in 2021. (Aldo Fiordelli,jamessuckling.com,March 11 2025) MINE: This Chianti Classico is a full-bodied Sangiovese and warming at 14.5% but smooth with dark cherry liqueur, orange zest, anise, dried sweet tobacco leaf and savoury spice flavours on the palate with a long ripe dark cherry and spicy finish on the palate. Tannins are plushy. Decant two hours prior to pouring with a meaty game stew or hold for two years when this Chianti begins to show its very best. NEW: Villa Trasqua farms organically in Chianti Classico, and this bottle shows a decade's worth of Sangiovese experience. Black plum and a flicker of clove come through first, warm cedar, right beside it. Plush tannins carry a long finish, structured and fresh throughout. Bring on a rich beef ragu or grilled tuna with pepper crust.

Chianti Classico food pairings: veal medallions, roasted pork loin, prime rib, coq au vin, grilled tuna with a pepper crust.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
