Villa Maria's Marlborough Pinot Gris is a dry, medium-bodied white of delightful freshness and expressive character, crafted predominantly in stainless steel with just 5% aged in oak barrels, a restrained and thoughtful approach that preserves the wine's racy, vibrant personality while adding a subtle whisper of textural complexity. It opens with an inviting and fragrant bouquet of honeyed quince, dried nectarine, white jasmine, warm gingerbread, and a gentle thread of candied citrus peel that gives the wine a quietly exotic and thoroughly appealing aromatic lift. The palate is succulent and fleshy, with a juicy, mouthwatering acidity and a clean, persistent finish that makes this wine as compelling with food as it is on its own. Villa Maria is one of New Zealand's most decorated and respected wine producers, founded by Sir George Fistonich in 1961 and credited with helping to establish New Zealand's reputation for world-class white wine on the global stage. Serve it well chilled alongside steamed prawns in a garlic and lemon sauce, where the wine's citrusy brightness and fleshy texture are a wonderfully natural match, or pair it with king crab in lemon butter, letting the wine's honeyed depth and racy acidity cut through the richness of the dish with effortless elegance. Enjoy it through 2028.

Pinot Gris food pairings: steamed prawn in garlic and lemon sauce, king crab in lemon butter, steamed mussels.
