The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino has aromatics of menthol and medicinal herbs, brushed leather, and black cherry. The palate is dark fruited without weight, marked with dried blackberry, black tea, dried herbs, and classically balanced structure. It is sourced from three different vineyard sites of various exposition on the hill of Montalcino. This will be ready to drink a touch earlier and be great to check in on over the next 15 years. Drink 2022-2036. (Monica Larner,Robert Parker,November 21, 2024) MINE: From a very good vintage, Val di Suga 2016 Brunello Di Montalcino is a dry, full-bodied, big and juicy Brunello fragrant with mint, herbs and dark cherry aromas with layers of ripe black fruits, black cherry, mint, dried herbs and cold black tea flavours fresh on the palate. Tannins are structured. Drink or cellar to 2034. The Sangiovese grapes for this vintage were sourced from three different vineyard sites of varying exposures on the hill of Montalcino. NEW: Val di Suga sources this Brunello from three separate sites around Montalcino, each catching the sun a little differently. Dried plum and a hint of clove define the nose, warm cedar, trailing behind. Firm tannins are built for patience, structured and fresh throughout. Serve it with a rich tomato pasta or linguine marinara.
