United Stars Kindzmarauli from the Kindzmarauli PDO micro-zone in Kakheti, Georgia is a medium-bodied, semi-sweet 100% Saperavi made by arresting fermentation early to preserve the grape's natural sugars, and the result is one of those wines that tastes like the landscape it comes from: dark, perfumed, sweet-fruited and unmistakably Georgian. On the nose it opens with dried violet, black fig, and a whisper of warm spice from the Caucasus foothills. The palate is lush and rich with pomegranate compote, and a gently tannic finish that keeps the sweetness from tipping into dessert territory. The Kindzmarauli name refers to the ancient royal vineyards of the Kvareli district, historically so prized that Georgian royalty reserved them exclusively for the crown. Lightly chill it and serve it now through 2027 with sweet and warm curry dishes, where the wine's natural sweetness plays against the heat beautifully, or try it with dark chocolate covered ginger for an after-dinner pairing with serious personality.

Food pairings: sweet and warm curry dishes, spicy dark chocolate, chocolate covered ginger.

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
