Sur de los Andes Reserva Pinot Noir from Patagonia's cool-climate General Roca in Río Negro pours a translucent garnet and opens with an inviting bouquet of crushed blackcurrant, sun-dried fig, and dried herb undertones, lifted by a bright thread of pomelo zest. It's dry and medium-bodied, with a vibrant dark-fruit core framed by lively acidity and silky, polished tannins, while a whisper of anise and toasted clove carries through to a focused, lingering finish. Serve it slightly below room temperature and drink it now through 2028, or cellar it for a few more years as the structure is there for graceful aging. Winemaker Pablo Durigutti, one of Argentina's most celebrated enologists, crafts this wine from organically farmed Patagonian vines using only natural yeasts and a cold maceration process, a fascinating choice that coaxes remarkable aromatic precision from a notoriously finicky grape. Founded in 2002 by former finance executive Guillermo Banfi, Sur de los Andes proves that reinvention can yield extraordinary results. Try this Pinot with herb-crusted roast lamb chops, where the wine's earthy lift plays beautifully against the seared crust, or alongside a mushroom and gruyère risotto for a weeknight pairing that feels decidedly elegant.

Pinot Noir food pairings: roast leg of lamb, veal stuffed Portobello mushrooms, veal chops.
