Pinot Noir is a rare sight from the Mosel, a region built on Riesling, which makes this bottle something of a curiosity. Black cherry defines the nose, with a savoury, earthy note trailing just behind. The tannins are soft, and the whole thing drinks light and easy. Sometimes the most interesting bottle in a lineup is the one that has no business being there. Roast chicken or a simple pork schnitzel is an easy, no-fuss pairing.

Pinot Noir food pairings: German-style roast pork with sauerkraut, pan-fried veal schnitzel, smoked duck breast.

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
