Founded in 1877 by Don Rafael López de Heredia y Landeta, Bodegas López de Heredia is the oldest bodega in Haro and one of the first three houses in all of Rioja, and every wine they make is a defiant statement against the entire modern winemaking playbook. Viña Tondonia Reserva, a Tempranillo-led blend fermented in 153-year-old oak vats with indigenous yeasts and aged six years in used barrels, opens with tea leaves, dried cherry, leather, and a saline mineral thread, then delivers a light-to-medium-bodied palate of tart cranberry and warm spice with a long, precisely etched finish and firm, fine-grained tannins. Drink it now through 2038 with pork tenderloin, veal Porterhouse, roast chicken, or prime rib.

Tempranillo food pairings: pork tenderloin, veal Porterhouse, roast chicken, prime rib roast, pork chops, veal cutlets.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
