Pietra Pura Mandus Primitivo di Manduria is a dry, full-bodied red that pours an intense ruby with purple glints and delivers a generous, sun-drenched nose of macerated black fig, stewed damson and dried wild herbs, underpinned by warm notes of roasted coffee, dark toffee and a ribbon of sweet pipe tobacco. The palate is rich and mouth-filling, with plush, rounded tannins and a concentrated dark-fruit core balanced by enough freshness to keep everything lively, finishing with pleasing length and a whisper of toasted French oak from its four months in barrel. Serve it at room temperature and enjoy now through 2034. Winemaker Luca Francioni of the celebrated Tuscan house Rocca delle Macìe oversees this fascinating cross-regional collaboration between Tuscany and Puglia, crafting the wine from 100% Primitivo, the very same grape known in California as Zinfandel, grown in the sun-baked San Marzano vineyards of Salento. This wine took home a prestigious Best of Show Gold at Mundus Vini 2025, a remarkable achievement for a wine at this price point. Try it alongside a slow-roasted pork shoulder with balsamic-glazed onions, where the wine's dark fruit intensity rises to meet every caramelized bite, or pair it with a plate of aged Pecorino and spiced salami for a no-fuss but deeply satisfying match.

Primitivo Di Manduria food pairings: grilled meats, game, aged cheeses.
