This wine really needs some serious time to unwind: it's wound up tighter than a cobra right now. Lots of black fruit and toasty oak with firm tannins on the palate. Beautifully structured with deep concentration. Pair with rare meats. Decant 2 hours. The magnum size of this wine that's equivalent to two regular 750 ml bottles. Finishes with espresso, leather, spice. Pair with Florentine steaks. This Italian red wine classic Superiore Tenuta dell'Ornellaia has a huge, dense texture and weight. Excellent balance, length and depth.

Ornellaia 2013 is a red wine blend from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot grapes. Wine grapes were hand-picked with each variety separately vinified. Total maturation was 18 months in 70% new and 30% previously used oak barrels with assemblage of the wines occurring after one year of maturing in barrel, then returned to barrel for the balance of maturation. Ornellaia 2013 also aged one year in bottle prior to its release. - Community Wine Reviews
