Nice balance to this tasty, robust Chardonnay: full-bodied but not heavy. Lovely notes of green apples, butter and vanilla spice.

The only Australian wine to win Gold and place inthe top 10 wines at the Chardonnay du Monde competition in Paris France 2009.

Harvest Report: The national vineyard was subjected to frost, drought and early-harvest rain episodes. The yields were significantly reduced due to this, with ripening generally advanced by three to five weeks. Most of the fruit was picked prior to Easter. However these harsh conditions, resulting in smaller berry sizes and lower bunch weights, subsequently increased the colour and flavour intensity of the wine.
Winemaker’s Notes: This complex wine is a blend of many parcels of fruit, each kept separate until final blending and bottling. The fruit was harvested in the cool of the night to ensure the grapes remained fresh and retained their rich varietal character. After crushing only the premium free-run juice was extracted, chilled and settled. Half of the parcels were fermented in stainless steel while the remaining parcels were fermented in a combination of French barriques and hogsheads. The wine in oak then went through malolactic fermentation to add further complexity and character to the finished wine.
Taste Profile
Colour: Straw coloured with light green hues.
Bouquet: Lively fresh peach and nectarine aromas combine with guava, paw paw and passionfruit characters. This primary fruit is balanced by cedar aromas derived from the French oak maturation combining with subtle, clean, buttery notes from malolactic fermentation.
Palate: The palate displays persistent peach, rockmelon and fresh tropical fruit flavours. Some citrus flavours are also evident, arising from the fresh natural acid in the wine and providing structure and length to this balanced palate, which finishes fruit sweet and flavorsome.
