Reviews and Ratings

Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A classic Meritage blend with Cabernet Sauvignon leading while Cabernet Franc and Merlot support. Black cherry and plum, more dried than fresh, with oak spice, leather, tobacco smoke, and mild herbal notes. Good acidity, medium body and tannins, this red has everything it needs to be quite at home on the dinner table. Savour the respectable finish while enjoying coq au vin, pasta with red sauce, or vegetarian lasagna.
Greg Hughes rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Here's a new winery located closer to the falls; so a great option for tourists coming over the American border. Their name comes from The Battle of Lundy Lane; a decisive skirmish in the war of 1812 (which we definitely won).
There is scant information from the producer on their website, but this wine appears to be a Bordeaux blend that has been partially appassimentoed and aged in neutral barrels.
This is suprising, given the wine's levity and fresh acidity.
Translucent ruby colour and relatively prominent aromatics.
Pomegranate, apple skin, red cherry, cranberry, cassis, and some subtle baking spices.
Again, lots of acidity and a medium body. Racy, fresh, and surprisingly youthful. More fresh red berries, cherries, moderate tannins, and a decent finsish.
This wine needs a chance to open up. Perhaps even some time in the cellar to settle down. The appassimento wines coming out of Niagara all exist on a spectrum of aggressiveness and need patience. This one is no exception. It would be nice with a sesame glazed tenderloin.
Lundy Manor Proprietor's Blend Red 2013 is a Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot red wine blend with wine grapes sourced from the Niagara Peninsula wine region and made in the appassimento style and matured in older oak casks. Look for figgy, tobacco, cake spice and cherry liqueur flavours on this easy going, juicy red. - Community Wine Reviews
