Kinast CKC Gran Reserva from Colchagua Valley, Chile is a medium-to-full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend named after founder Carlos Kinast and the valley that produces it, sourced from fruit across multiple Chilean regions and aged 12 months in French oak. On the nose it's inviting and precise, with boysenberry, violet, graphite, and a whisper of toasted hazelnut from the oak. The palate is rounded, with dark plum, warm baking spice, and a long, polished finish with firm but supple tannins that have real structure behind them. Carlos Kinast founded this family winery in 1998 with a straightforward mandate: make transparent, honest wines from some of Chile's most celebrated growing regions, and the CKC Gran Reserva sits at the top of that range. Cellar it through 2031 and pull the cork with slow-braised beef short ribs with chimichurri, where the wine's dark fruit and firm structure match the richness of the meat, or try it with a roast leg of lamb with herbs and a red wine jus.
