Karl's Scepter 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon is a great value Coonawarra Cab at $15. Fragrant with violets and pink florals, black currant, dark cherry, garrigue herbs, cedar brush, toasty oak spice and vanilla flavours generous and juicy on the palate, the wine is beautifully expressive and finishes long and harmonious. Tannins are structured, enjoy it with roast beast through 2034.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: lamburgers, tourtière, kebabs.

Reviews and Ratings

L.J. Palmer WSET 3 rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

This is a deep purple wine w, dry, medium plus tannins, full bodied, medium Plus acidity with a pronounced nose featuring herbal notes , particularly thyme, earthy notes of black currant, vanilla, baking spice, definite cedar, pencil shavings (graphite), and a strong floral note principally violet. The wine is rich and smooth in the mouth. I paired it with beef slow cooked in mushrooms and thyme, served on sweet potatoes roasted with olive oil. The wine and this beef dish complemented each other perfectly; linked by the thyme notes in wine and food and the rich and full sweetness of the sweet potato. Also suited old cheddar cheese. A very worthwhile wine with food and on its own.
