Deep ruby in colour with purple highlights. The nose is rich and Mediterranean in style, offering aromas of ripe blackberry, dark cherry and plum, complemented by notes of wild herbs, black pepper, liquorice and subtle earthy spice. The palate is generous and well-balanced, with Grenache contributing ripe red fruit, roundness and warmth, while Carignan adds freshness, structure and savoury complexity. Fine tannins and vibrant acidity support flavours of dark berries, garrigue herbs and mineral notes, leading to a long, spicy finish. A characterful southern French red showing both the richness and freshness typical of Côtes du Roussillon. (Jeb Dunnuck,jebdunnuck.com,Aug. 1, 2023) MINE: This Grenache-Carignan blend is a lively, medium-bodied red brimming with redcurrant, tart cherry, and a savoury touch of dried herbs. Its bright acidity and fine tannins lend energy and focus, while subtle spice notes add lift to the fruit-forward core. Silky in texture and refreshingly precise on the finish, it's a polished and expressive wine that shines now. Enjoy with grilled Mediterranean vegetables or lamb kofta. NEW: Jeff Carrel built this bottling from Grenache and Carignan grown near d'Ansignan, in the Cotes du Roussillon at the foot of the Pyrenees. Ripe raspberry and garrigue herbs bring real warmth. Fine tannin and bright acidity give the wine plenty of energy. Black pepper surfaces as it sits in the glass. BBQ chicken wings or a hearty vegetarian stew would both be a genuine delight beside it. The Pyrenees cast a long shadow, but this wine has no trouble stepping into the sun.
