Reviews and Ratings

Marcia J. Hamm rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Founded within the Maremma zone in the Tuscany region of Italy, Morellino di Scansano was granted DOCG status for the 2007 vintage after being a DOC since 1978. It amps up the quality of the wine, but the price does not necessarily reflect, which is excellent for the consumer! This outstanding wine has an intense nose of Morello cherries with underlying earth and herb notes. A blend of 85% Sangiovese with the balance being Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, the cherries continue on the palate, with balanced body and tannins. Great with cured meats, pasta with meat sauce, red meats and strong cheeses.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
