Finca Nueva Crianza Tempranillo is a vivid, modern-spirited Rioja from one of Spain's most quietly influential winemakers, Miguel Ángel de Gregorio, who founded Finca Nueva in 2004 as a creative outlet alongside his acclaimed Finca Allende project, with the express ambition of making terroir-driven wines that honour Rioja's traditional aging classifications while feeling unmistakably fresh and alive for today's palate. Made from 100% Tempranillo sourced from hand-harvested vineyards on the right bank of the Ebro River in Rioja Alta, it is a wine that wears its Crianza designation lightly, delivering more energy and lift than the category might suggest. The nose is precise and inviting, with dark wild cherry, dried blackcurrant and a whisper of clove-spiced oak, alongside a cool, chalky thread of minerality that gives the wine its distinctive sense of place. On the palate it is dry and carries under 13% alcohol, making it a particularly graceful pour, with medium body, juicy acidity and well-knit tannins that carry through a clean, lingering finish. De Gregorio is also notable for his fierce advocacy of terroir expression in Rioja, having coined the phrase "Rioja, land of a thousand wines" which the region's Regulatory Council later adopted as the backbone of its own promotional identity. Serve it lightly chilled and enjoy through 2034. It is a natural companion to a grilled lamb chop with roasted peppers, where the wine's minerality and red fruit shine, or try it with a wood-fired pizza topped with Spanish chorizo and manchego for a fun, unfussy pairing that leans into the wine's modern spirit.

Food pairings: grilled lamb chop with roasted peppers, wood-fired pizza with chorizo and manchego, grilled chicken thighs with smoky paprika.
