Finca Iral Single Vineyard Malbec from Mendoza's Ugarteche is a vibrant, medium-bodied red that skips oak entirely, allowing the grape and its sun-warmed terroir to speak with pure, unfiltered clarity. The nose is genuinely captivating, leading with crushed damson, wild raspberry, lavender, dark iris, and a signature whiff of the native desert scrub that grows between the vines, lending a distinctly Argentine sense of place. Finca Iral has produced certified organic wines from its Ugarteche estate since 2017, and the grapes were harvested in three separate passes through the vineyard to capture the full spectrum of ripeness and complexity. Winemaker Daniel García Corazza works alongside founding enologist Lucas Giménez Bachiocchi to craft wines that prioritize varietal honesty over winemaking intervention, and this unwooded Malbec is their philosophy in a glass. The project was born from a friendship between Canadian engineers Elisabeth Hivon and Mark Long and Mendocino enologist Lucas Giménez, who were all captivated by the Ugarteche terroir from the very first day they encountered it. Serve slightly below room temperature alongside a grilled lamb burger with chimichurri, where the wine's juicy freshness and floral lift match the herby brightness of the sauce, or pair it with a roasted beet and goat cheese salad, a lighter pairing that lets the wine's elegant fruit take centre stage. Drink now through 2029.
