Mixed berries on the nose with hints of dried herbs that turn to a light balsamic note on the palate, to accompany the sweet, crushed berries. I like the balance of sweet and savory on the medium-full palate. The interest never flags. Tasty. Drink now. (93 points jamessuckling.com,Oct. 22, 2021) MINE: Farina Montecorna Superiore 2019 Ripasso Valpolicella Classico is amazing value at $20. From the Veneto wine region, the wine is produced from 70% Corvina, 15% Corvinone, 10% Rondinella, 5% Molinara and is savoury and subtly smoky on the palate with dark cherry, ripe red berry, dark chocolate, savoury dried herbs creamy on the finish. Tannins are velvety. NEW: Spicy sausage pizza on a Friday night is the move. Ripasso gets its extra depth from a second fermentation on leftover Amarone skins. Farina blends Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and a little Molinara for this one. Plum and cinnamon make it round and supple. Think of it as Amarone's cheerful younger cousin, without the grown-up price.

Ripasso Valpolicella Classico food pairings: pizza topped with steak strips and garlic, spicy sausage , prime rib roast, hearty winter stew.

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
