More expressive and complex than many 2020 Châteauneufs at this early stage, with Provençal herbs and bay leaf aromas to the blackberry fruit - very promising. Light- to medium-bodied, fluid and juicy, with fresh acidity, this is well-defined and should build some complexity in time. Finishes on a savoury note. From lieux-dits La Crau (sand and galets roulés), Le Pradel (red clay) and Les Saintes Vierges (sand). Fermented in concrete with natural yeasts, aged in oak barrels of various sizes (including 20% new oak barriques) and concrete vats. (Kevin Davy - James Suckling,decanter.com,Sept. 30, 2021) MINE: This vintage already outpaces its peers, weaving garrigue herb threads through glossy blackberries and a stony mineral undertow. Midweight and poised, its vibrant lift carries through to a savory, flint-tinged close. Give it years to deepen or pour today alongside grilled eggplant stacks and herb-crusted pork tenderloin. NEW: This bottle draws fruit from three distinct Châteauneuf-du-Pape parcels, each with its own soil, fermented with natural yeasts in concrete. There's black plum here, backed by iron and a whisper of forest floor. Structured and fresh, the energy carries through a savoury finish. This will keep developing for years yet. Pair it with roasted game meats or grilled pork sausage.

Food pairings: roasted game meats, grilled steak, grilled pork or game sausage.

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
