Domaine Albin Jacumin La Bégude des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a lush, full-bodied red offering aromas of ripe red cherry, lavender, and hints of garrigue herbs. It's dry with silky tannins and bright acidity. Serve it slightly below room temperature with braised lamb shanks as the wine's supple texture and concentrated fruit will enhance the meat's tender richness beautifully, or pair it with aged Gruyère cheese where the wine's herbal complexity and smooth finish will complement the cheese's nutty, crystalline character perfectly. Albin Jacumin and his wife Agnès manage this fourth-generation family estate, which evolved from Aimé's original plantings through his son Alain and wife Sylvette, who expanded the holdings before passing the torch to their son. The wine is crafted from vines averaging 55 years of age planted across diverse parcels throughout the appellation on limestone and clay soils studded with the famous galets roulés—smooth river stones that absorb heat during the day and radiate it back at night—with 25-30 days of maceration followed by aging in 20% French oak barrels and 80% concrete tanks.

Châteauneuf-Du-Pape food pairings: braised lamb shanks, aged Gruyère cheese, beef daube provençale.
