Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Culmina's Merlot showcases just how complex and interesting the Okanagan's signature varietal can be, especially those sourced from the prestigious Golden Mile Bench. Rich and intense black fruit, black plum, Okanagan Black Sage, dried herbs, with a hint of cacao and graphite on the nose. Huge structure with grippy integrated tannins blanketed with rich dark fruit and herbs persisting on the long finish. This is a wine with harmony and longevity in its DNA, easily rewarding 5-10 years of cellaring and complementing a wide range of dishes from grilled and braised beef, creamy risotto, or hearty stews. Tasted November 2020. 93 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Deborah Podurgiel - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

I like this easy-to-enjoy savoury and sultry, estate-grown Merlot (2016) from Culmina Family Estate Winery. The wine is welcoming on the nose with dark plum, chocolate and dark spice aromas; dry, medium-plus-bodied with ripe dark berry fruit, plum, dark chocolate and well-integrated oak spice, balanced acidity and velvety tannins. Grapes for this vintage were sourced from the Golden Mile Bench G.I. Arise Bench, and the wine was matured in a combination of new, previous use and neutral French oak barrels. Elegant and easy to love, enjoy it with a wild mushroom ragu or venison burgers stuffed with Feta cheese. Tasted July 2021.
